Ms. Brophy is a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator with the State of Texas and a Geriatric Care Manager. Her career began as the Controller on the opening management team at *Marriott’s Brighton Gardens in Bellaire, TX. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, very few people even knew what Assisted Living was, Nursing Homes were the norm and Alzheimer’s facilities were in the infant stages of development as well. Her experience as Controller and further promotions as General Manager and Healthcare Administrator for *Marriott’s Senior Living communities in Houston, gave her first hand knowledge of the issues seniors and their family members face when confronted with such enormous decisions and situations stemming from the transformation of independence to dependence of our elderly loved ones. Sue’s professional scope of long term care expanded nationwide when she
was recruited and selected to assume the role of National Director of
Health Planning and Regulatory Affairs for Hearthstone Assisted Living.
During her tenure with Hearthstone, Sue traveled throughout the country
becoming abreast of the regulatory environment senior living providers,
(past, present and future) contend with. Sue worked with the Board of
Directors for the Texas Assisted Living Association to help write the
rules and regulations governing the services and compliance measures
Texas’s Assisted Living facilities must meet to enhance services and
exceed expectations for the seniors needing care in such communities.
This particular experience gave Sue the extensive knowledge healthcare
providers and governmental agencies face with the ever emerging senior
care industry. To summarize, she has had a 360 degree exposure to the
matters we are all faced with when attempting to make the best possible
choices for senior care.
